When to come to New York?

There is no real best period to visit New York, there is constantly something going on at every time of year, no matter the season you will have a great time.

Most important sights such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the Statue of Liberty are open almost every day. Madison Square Garden hosts concerts and performances all year round while fans can always see their favourite sport at Shea Municipal Stadium or Yankee Stadium. The best time to visit NY depends on what your scheduled route is.

Summer is a great time to visit New York, many top cultural institutions (the Lincoln Centre as an example) offers fun and free outdoor activities including film festivals and live music concerts. Visitors can obtain better views of popular spots such as Central Park, Coney Island, Statue of Liberty or even Niagara Falls. Summer is also time for annual celebrations, the U.S. Open is held in Queens, the New York City triathlon, the Big Apple BBQ Block Party, the Gay Pride Parade and the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks also are celebrated during this season.

The winter season brings traditional celebrations, including the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Christmas Tree Lighting at Rockefeller Center, this is why many people feel that Christmas is the best time to visit New York City although shoppers may pack the city searching the perfect gift. Fashion-lovers can benefit from the release of new collections at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. In the winter, the weather may be cold and snowy, especially in January and February although theatre fans who want to see the biggest hits on Broadway often consider these months as the best time to visit New York

During the fall season, visitors can enjoy cultural events such as the New York Film Festival and the Philharmonic and Metropolitan Opera concerts, other events held in this season include the New York City Marathon, the Columbus Day Parade, the NY Comedy Festival, the African-American Day Parade, the annual New York Chocolate Show, and the NYC Hispanic Parade among many others.

During springtime, visitors can appreciate different flower shows such as the Cherry Blossom Festival, the Macy's Flower Show and the Orchid Show. Different events such as the St. Patrick's Day, the Greek Independence Day, the Five Boro Bike Tour, the Cuban Day, and the Ninth Avenue International Food Festival in Hell's Kitchen among others are held along this season.
