Nightlife in New York is among the best in the world, it is true that the city never sleeps, New York provides something to see and do for everyone, and the biggest problem may you have is probably choosing the best venue, you can choose from theatre performances to free public concerts, passing dance clubs, piano bars, karaoke, wine bars, stand-up comedy clubs, cabarets, Irish pubs, gay clubs, and chamber music venues.

New York clubs offer a variety of music such as Alternative Rock, Alternative Rock, Punk, Jazz, Country, Disco, Electronica, Folk, Gospel and more.

If you are interested in musical and plays, visit the Theatre Area in Midtown Manhattan where are located the 39 Broadway theatres, the seating capacity of the Broadway Theatres is 500 seats or more, other alternatives are the Off-Broadway Theatres whose seating capacity is less than 500 and the smaller Off-Off-Broadway Theatres that have fewer than 100 seats.

Events can be found all over New York, but some neighbourhoods have much more to offer than others. Most music clubs, bars, restaurants, lounges and dance clubs are located at Downtown Manhattan. The East Village, from 14th Street to Houston, east of Broadway, is famous for its small rock and new-music venues; you’ll find also Latino-DJs bars. Lower East Side offers a similar nightlife scene with its rock taverns.

For live jazz music head to the unpretentious basement bars at Greenwich Village. West Village is also a place for classic jazz joints; it is also the hub of New York’s gay nightlife. The Meatpacking District at Manhattan hosts the trendiest bars, restaurants, and clubs. Brooklyn is the place for rock and roll.

One of the most famous clubs for popular music is the historic Apollo Theatre in Harlem, another sight is the Madison Square Garden, "The World's Most Famous Arena", plays host some of the biggest names in music. Don’t miss the B.B. King Blues Club & Grill. The renowned Carnegie Hall is, probably, the most famous place in New York for classical and popular music. The Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts offers classical music concerts, dance performances, jazz concerts and more. These attractions are only a few among the long list of popular venues in New York.

There are plenty of publications to tell you what is hot, the Time Out New York and the free weekly Village Voice magazines provides a comprehensive weekly listing that will help you find the exact place that suit your personal desires. The New York Times, the New Yorker, the New York Press and the New York Magazine are other great resources to find what is going on New York nightlife, although, a great way to find a place is to ask the advice of a native dweller with trustworthy taste.
